You're WAY off there.The term has been around since the 80's.What I heard was that is when you're least likely to see a cop on the streets due to being either right before or right after shift change.And the heads adopted it as a slang term referring to getting toasted.
The inference was the best time to blaze was when the cops were all at the station.

It grew in popularity there and then moved through out the US and then on to being a national weed thing!! I quess the would be in like the early 60's Has anyone else heard something different? You have it all wrong. 4:20 isn't a time, it's a ratio. If you smoke four times in a day, your day will be twenty times better.

Actually, 5 times better. But, then it adds up to 20 hours of appreciating Life.

So if you smoke only one time a day your day will only be 5 times better than if you smoked none at all? And so on and so forth? What if you smoke at night? Will your night be better? Is 4:20 the limit to how good a day can be? Then we could have 5:25 !

I think there's a limit. When it gets to, about, 64:320 it starts leveling off because then you're not doing anything else but puffin' Weed.
