Legalization process: How close are we?

u think the US follows UN orders. look at the war in iraq. the UN is just as corrupt as any other governing body. Our generation needs to reform the world and make it right again.

Legalization process: How close are we?

In an article about Denver's decision to end the prohibition on pot, on All Saints' Day, I found this promising quote.
"A few years from now, this vote may well be seen as the proverbial 'tipping point,' the beginning of the end of marijuana prohibition in the U.S.," said Rob Kampia, executive director of the Marijuana Policy Project in Washington, D.C.

I have been wondering these things as well.

Also look inside the entertainment industry, alot of "stars" are coming around saying they smoke pot, they have no problem with pot smokers, blah blah blah. We are hearing about it LESS AND LESS on the legal front everyday, and more on the glorified side.

Is this brainwashing for the next generation to get them hooked on a soon to be taxed product?

I don't think they'll be able to tax it. They just have to keep their hands off of it. Besides, after all these years of prohibition, forget the government getting anything good out of legalization. They can't tax what you grow. It'd still be an underground dealing process.

To think that they WON'T tax it is aburd. Of course they will tax it, they will control it, it will be legal, and if anybody wants to make business, they will tax it.

Soon you will see shops selling bud, or distrubitors growing WITHIN the U.S. and the government taxing it.

It would be so easy to tax, with a slow process of legalization that is. But to think that they won't tax it is just absurd.

    They tax everything.

Yes I agree with STD, it is a completely irrational theory to suppose that the government won't tax it if/when it is legalized. Of course smart people like you and I are going to grow, but for those who don't have the time/patience/skill to grow there will be weed shops and the weed that they grow/sell will most definetely be taxed. The government controls everything, I wouldnt be suprised if weed is MORE expensive when it's legalized.

Alcohol isn't bootlegged anymore because it costs more than buying alcohol from a company. Look how it was sold after the prohibition was raised and when it fell.

Tobacco is still smuggled throughout all parts of the world even though it's legal. You can get it for cheaper.

Marijuana, the same, the same shall happen.

I'd say at least 50 years.
Our economy will have to change so much to accept hemp back that it'll be a LONG time.
