I'm a white collar worker but would hardly consider myself a corporate exec. My father, on the other hand, is a Vice President at a large company in the Semiconductor Industry. Definitely a corporate exec.

For the better part of my childhood my father was away on business. First throughout the U.S. and then the rest of the world. Now my father is 59 years old. A typical day for him involves leaving the house around 6:00, getting home around 8:00, then getting back on the phone to colleages in Asia until about 10:00. If he's lucky he can leave his desk for a least one meal a day. Weekends are typically spent working as well. Overall I'd say he puts in about 90 hrs a week. He has travelled to Asia four times in the last three months. I'm 35 and one of those trips beats the shit out of me. I can't imagine getting home from one and having to get back on the plane a week later.

Then there's the mental stress. He has about 250 people who report directly to him and his decisions effect not only his job but their jobs as well. Thta's not mentioning the poeple who don't report directly to him or the thousands of people who have many $ invested in the company. He has had to fire good friends and expectant fathers. This all takes a very heavy mental toll on him. I have seen him on the weekend looking ragged and my mother tells me its because he hasn't slept all week because Friday he had to lay so and so off. I have also seen my father in the ICU after a triple bypass which he needed despite the fact that he eats very healthy and is in generally good physical shape. The docs said it was most likeley stress that led to it.

So yeah, my father is a corporate exec who earns a shitload of money. But he earns every god damn penny of it. Anyone who thinks otherwise can fuck off.

You are a Capitalist!! Right on..
