I did some successful Durban a few years ago outside. Very little tending, except when the nasty bugs decided to chew on them a bit. A little dusting for the pests, and I had not problems. A few ferts in the holes that were dug for the transplants, and then off she went. Just make sure if you have a fairly inconspicuous place to plant that there is adequate sunlight. This is one mistake that I have seen other clandestine outdoor growers make.
