Words Of God
Well, the Bible is such a tricky thing because in some parts it does promote love and peace, and if you just want to look at those parts that's good I guess. But in other parts it promotes sexism, slavery, and other things which directly contradict the principle of treating your fellow man as you would like to be treated. If you take the Bible seriously you can't just gloss over those parts.
If you ask me, we should just use respect and logic to form our moral codes, instead of relying on an ancient text of fictional stories. Anyone who cares about others can clearly see that being peaceful and loving is good, and that being sexist and owning slaves is bad. We don't need mythology to tell us this stuff. And as long as the Bible is still promoted as a source of morals, sexism and slavery is being promoted as well, even if you don't intend it because you personally ignore those parts.

So the Sodomites were smitten because some of the men tried to rape the angels? Children were murdered by God because their fathers tried to rape some angels?! Obviously the children of Sodom had nothing to do with the crime, so why were they slaughtered?

It was the overall sinfullness of the cities. Not one specific sin. What you see is justice, evil being punished. I'm just glad we no longer live under the mosaic law. We no longer have to die for our sins becaue Christ was the final sacrifice. All that is necessary now is to believe in Him.

So even the little babies were evil sinners? Sorry, I don't buy that.
And what if I don't believe in Christ? What if I just want a little evidence that he was who the Bible says he was? I don't like to just take things on faith. I simply can't make my brain accept something that I don't have sufficient evidence to believe.

I'm with you on this one. I beleive there was a guy called Jesus, and he had some good ideas. Past that I don't know what to beleive and don't really care too much. If there is a god that's all loving, then all he should care about is the affect we had on the world while we were here. I think that all we can do is try and treat people with kindness (how we want to be treated) and understanding. Try to make the world a little better and live your life the best way you can. That's all we can do anyway. Religion or not.

People fucked up the bible by putting new words and stuff, the Quran is the only book I can trust because they are the true words of god.
