When I was a kid, I allways got a kick out of the song of solomon (I think). It's the book that talks about sex every other page. There are poems dedicated to tits and ass. I allways thought it was funny that church folk are allways giving people a hard time about sex, but it's everywhere in the bible. I can't remember which king it was (david maybe?) was wanting to bang a chick he saw taking a bath so he had her husband killed so he could fuck her. And this was supposed to be a noble and holy king. Whatever.

Whether or not calamus refers to cannabis I don't know, but I wouldn't recommend taking Exodus too seriously, seeing as how it also tells you the correct way to sell your daughter into slavery.

Don't over argue or over think the biblical issue of cannabis. Keep it simple and straight forward. As a Christian myself I have started working to educate other Christians as to the unjust treatment of marijuana. Start with the basics. In Genesis 1 and 2 we find the creation account. God made all plants and all plants are good. Marijuana is a plant and is therefore good.

There's no need to go much further than that.

Yeah really. Another Bible story I get a kick out of is Sodom and Gomorrah. Some nutjobs point out how this story proves God hates homosexuality, but I don't think they've read the story too carefully.

To paraphrase the story for those unfamiliar with it:

Two angels come to Sodom and meet a dude named Lot. Lot invites them over to his place, feeds them and offers them a place to sleep. Then a crowd of men forms around Lot's house and demands that he give up the angels so they can rape them. But since homosexuality is wrong, Lot offers his two virgin daughters to the rapists instead. "I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes", he says. The crowd tries to drag Lot out of his house but the angels pull him back in. The angels then use their superpowers to blind the crowd and they bring Lot and his family out of the town before God destroys all the queers. After God smites Sodom and Gomorrah off the map, they move to a cave. But there's a problem: Lot's daughters want to have babies but there's nobody for them to fuck. So Lot's daughters get him drunk with wine and ride his big hard cock, then give birth to incest babies. Good thing they knew how to be sexually moral so they wouldn't be killed with all the gays!

I think the cities were actually destroyed for their arrogance...not the specific sin itself. That's not there with the bulk of the story. I'll look up the reference for you.

But why was Lot saved? If you ask me, offering up your daughters for rape is far more smiteworthy than being arrogant. I know a lot of arrogant people, but I don't think it's okay to hurt them for that. However, if I met a guy who offered his daughters to a bunch of rapists and went unpunished, I'd have no problem kicking his ass.

The bible is a tricky thing. Some people live by it word for word, but I think they're missing the big picture at times. If you analyze every sentance, then all you're gonna end up doing is getting into a holy war. The overall point of peace love and understanding gets swept aside at times to fight over the meaning of three words. I don't have a problem with regligion. I think that when applied correctly it can be a healthy uplifting system, but if there is a god, I don't think he would take too kindly to what some people do in his name just because they only looked and a part of the story and not the whole story itself.
