    RAINFOREST

OK, SO WE HAVE THIS SMALL AREA AND ARE USING "THE RAINFOREST" AEROPONIC SYSTEM THAT HOLDS 18 PLANTS. WE CURRENTLY HAVE ONLY 5 PLANTS LEFT DUE TO ROOT ROT AND INSUFFICENT LIGHTING. WE ARE IN THE 5TH WEEK ALTOGETHER AND 1ST WEEK FLOWERING CYCLE. FOR OUR FLOWERING CYCLE WE ARE USING A 1000 WATT HORTILUX BULB WITH THE METAL REFLECTOR. WITHIN THE FIRST 3 HOURS OF LIGHT ABOUT 24 INCHES FROM THE PLANT WE RECIEVED "BURNS" ON OUR PLANTS AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS WAY OVER 100 DEGREES. WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO USE A 400 WATT BULB FOR NOW, ANYWAYS UNTIL WE GET APPROPRIATE VENTILATION AND HEAT CONTROL. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO ELIMINATE HEAT? ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO TREAT THE BURNED LEAVES? IS 1000 WATT HORTILUX BULB FLAMMABLE IF IT IS SO CLOSE TO A WALL? ALL SUGGESTIONS WELCOME

For lights that strong it is best to get the proper ventilation system first. For now you can put some strong fans on them to keep the heat from building up too much. Once a leave is burned by heat, the cells in the tissue are killed, you can't repair the burnt part of the leaves, but the undamaged parts still work fine for the plant.

Try to shock the plants with minimal lighting. Once the plants have been deprived of light for a little while they will thrive when they get it.

Eliminate the reflector ... reduce the heat
