If you live in Canada, what do you think of..

the upcoming election? I am so excited! I turn 18 in December and this will be the first election I can vote in. I'm probably going to vote NDP, but my parents are trying to convince me to vote Green. I just don't know. Need more research.

If you're comfortable sharing, who do you think you're going to vote for?

Because of my age I can not vote. But if I could vote, I would problay vote NDP. Since the merger of the cons and CA who seem to have a problem with everything, they just dont seem to deserve my vote. Liberal would be my alturnative but I really don't agree with some of their policys. Everyone says not to vote Liberal cuz of the scandles...but all partys have scandles....the liberals just had their uncovered.
I fear no human for human is nothing to fear, but the acts at which a human can take is something of a scare

Now thats a hard question. Like Mudfu said, scandal is everywhere. Im not one who decides based on election propaganda. Im one who looks at blatant betrayal of public trust and lies. Then one by one parties/individuals get ruled out. Mud slinging does nothing to impress me. Its pretty much a decision of picking the best of the bad to run the show and I have never felt comfortable choosing someone solely because they are not as bad as the other fools. I dont pay attention to election promises because history shows each time that its 90%bs.
The action and integrity of parties/individuals when it is NOT election time sways me more than propaganda and dirty fighting.
Im not shy to admit that several times I have not voted at all. I simply write that I dont trust any candidate on the ballot and cast it in the box. I have voted green before due to their excellent environmental policy and integrity.
Its hard to say how anyone would react once in power. Even the most impressive can turn after they win. Since green has never been in power who knows how power could corrupt them...and how they would have to adapt to a historically corrupt system in order to function.
I will participate in conversations like this to talk my way through my views and come to a conclusion by the time my opinion is due.
I wont pay any attention to the various campaigns. It is what they have done to prove themselves to this point that will sway me one way or the other.
And when the time comes if I dont feel confidant in anyone I will voice that on my ballot ( we still use paper and pen in hicksville )
Its better to show that I dont trust anyone than to pick someone who I only agree with some of their policy and behavior and have to live with the shit I dont like or trust for the next term.
Im voting for the person/party I trust to lead our country in the right direction now and for the party I trust to lay the groundwork for the future of my children and I dont take that responsibility lightly.
One thing is for sure, one major criteria I have is for clearly stated reinforcement of autonomy of our country in the face of US government pressures.
And I damn well want to see open debate on the future of Marc Emery and crew.
Its such a pivitol issue since its not really about pot seeds. Its about freedom, sovereignty, and standing up to the schoolyard bully and saying youre not getting my lunch money today fucker!

btw...I expect that this will problably be promptly moved to the political forum.

    peace.

I don't vote, and I only have once, and I didn't really know who I was voting for. I'm 23 and my parents care very much so about politics, so every fuckin night, they would phone me up, "so, are you ready to go vote?" So, I finally voted, for the NDP's last year, why, I don't know, I didn't win...so I'll never vote again.

The elections have never caused more apathy in me....

    Martin's a crook
    Harper's a nut
Layton doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell
Duceppe.... Uh, I'm not even gonna start on that guy.

I'm voting for my local Marxists/Leninist candidate

But seriously, the only party I can vote for and keep a somewhat clean conscience is the NDP, but like I said, I live in Quebec and a vote for the NDP is completely wasted.

    I hate Canadian politics.

Gameshow host: Heres the question i ask of all our contestants. What made you drop out?

Bob: Well alot of people think it was the 400 acid trips i took yah know.

Gameshow host: Uh huh, but what was it really Bob?

Bob: Well one day i played Black Sabbath at 78 speed, man.

Gameshow host: Black Sa... And then what happened?

    Bob: I saw God.

Gameshow host: You saw god. Well that sounds like true enlightenment to me Bob.

    NDP = NO DOWN PAYMENT
The NDP are for the people on welfare, and if you don't work, I'd say vote for 'em. But all these projects have been built in my city by the NDP which just brings in more break-ins and robberies and shit. The NDP's views are way too left wing for me. The NDP won't help anybody out except for welfare.

The Liberals did a crappy job this term.

So the only 2 left are the conservatives and the Green Party. The conservatives might do a good job, but if I was actually old enough to vote I would say the Green Party.
