Me and my friends have been debating this question for a while now. Here it is.

Is it illegal if I were the driver of a vehicle, to have a passenger in my vehicle who has weed on them?

This is kind of a serious question, bc I want to know if I will get fucked or not if I'm caught with people with weed in my car, thank you.

Yes, it is illegal, no matter how you look at it. If you are high, that is considered illegal.

actually on cops in cali, i saw 3 teens get pulled over and the cop found about an ounce of bud, give or take. the girl driving the car only got a ticket but there was no arrest, although one teen did get arrested cuz he had a bench warrant out on him. so thats crazy, in nyc you're getting arrested for a nick bag and have to go through the system but in cali you get a ticket for almost an ounce. madness.

well, NJ DARE told us a story about a kid's care getting checked in our HS' parking lot, they called the dogs out and shit and one of the dogs found a SEED? and the kid got busted even after his friend said it was from him. Even if the story's bullshit the point is (here atleast) any bit of mary j in a car is the owner's responsibility, no matter who's it was.

Could be wrong though Usually am.

Yeah, i'm not sure, like whether the driver would get anything. In merry ole England i reckon we would be cool, even if driving, as long as someone owned up to the weed! Then they'd only get a fine.. and shit, over like 2 ounces

If there are 2 people in the car and your friend has it or puts it under the seat 1 of 2 things could happen providing the cop doesn't take it for personal use:
A. your friend gets in trouble ( if he owns up to it )
B. you get in trouble because it is your car.
It all depends on the cop. I have seen it go both ways on COPS.

DO NOT EVER GIVE CONSENT TO SEARCH YOUR VEHICLE WHATEVER YOU DO!!!!!!!!!!

YOU: Give it to him and be polite and calm holdin that zone under your seat
COP: Where are you going ?
YOU: That is really none of your concern (politely) I am kind of pressed for time, If I could have my ticket and be on my way that would be helpful to me.
COP: DO you have anything illegal in the car?
YOU: NO
COP: Do you mind if I look around?
YOU: Yes I do, as I said before I am kind of pressed for time and would like to be on my way.
COP: Can I search your car?
YOU: No you may not unless I am under arrest or you have a warrent to do so.
THAT WILL SHUT THEM UP. Once they know that you know your rights they usually just write tha ticket and let you go. If they search anyway It is now illegal and you may request a supervisor be present while that search is conducted ( THAT IS YOUR RIGHT ). If that right is denied the case will be thrown out most likely. HAPPENED TO ME. DISMISSED ON GROUNDS OF ILLEGAL SEARCH AND SEIZURE. sorry so long

It depends where you live. Here in ontario Canada we can have 30 g's without getting fucked. Its considered personal and police have discretion, but either way its not a criminal offence. Anything over that and its criminal.

Ok this is a bit off topic, but in Australia about 3 weeks ago a law was passed that cops don't even need a warrant or anything if they think that someone is a terrorist or about to plan a terrorist attack. Just after this was passed something like 50 people have been arrested since.
I think that this is what the law will eventually be like in relation to drugs (marijuana) so the cops will only need to have reasonable suspicion/doubt that an individual is carrying marijuana. It's like this in some places in America at the moment right?

thats the ultimate goal of the USA and the counties they run.
