    Nutirent Additives Survey

I know there have been alot of post regarding nutrients on the boards but I simply would like to ask everyone what nutrient additives they recommend for hydro, 2 1000 watt HPS in drip system without CO2, when using GH three part nutes?

If I was to buy two additives what two would you recommend I buy? Please list your top three recommendations please? And please state your experience or reason for your recommended choices?

    Thank You ,
    Peace, Bill

    OK Bill!!!!!
I would recomend these three "additives" as you requested. Forgive me if they are not all available in a bottle......

A good pH monitor. Mine is an American Marine Inc. Pinpoint pH Monitor. It totally takes the hassle and guesswork out of pH fluctuation. I found it under a google search for like $90. I've had a digital pH pen, test strips, droplet style, you name it. One of the best investments I made. You can actually watch your pH change live because it measures it to the 100th of a degree like 5.83. You can lose days of growth due to the wrong pH levels. You can grow big plants in 72 days with the correct environmental conditions.

Airstones!!!! Have lots of good aeration in your reservoir and use at least a gallon or two of nutrient to each plant (two being better). These rules allow for a more stable pH and TDS level.

Floralicous Plus by GH. Contains beneficial microbes and kelp extracts, the stuff you want. You use only 1 teaspoon (5 ml) per 5 gallons of nutrient. It is an all around good product and compatible with your 3-part. I use it in combination with the next product I recomend.......

Hygrozyme. This product is a good mate with Floralicous Plus because the microbes in Floralicous Plus benefit from the role that Hygrozyme plays. Hygrozyme is a root treatment that aids in the health of your root structure. Your root system dictates the health of your plants, and their yield.

Right off the cuff , I couldn't agree with you more on the Ph/TDS/PPm monitor, I bought a Hannah three way digital for my first grow and it proved to be the most useful tool I have had. Damn thing cost me $200 bucks...Yikes!!! But it is a good instrument and it is something I put to use several times a day.

I also have good airation to each grow bucket with a GH Blue Stone Air pump (320 GPH) for my grow room and two smaller pumps , one for my resevoir and one for my cloner and they be a bubblin :stoned:

I have touched briefly on the enzymes hygrozyme thing but need to delve into them a lil deeper as they have been mentioned before a few times. Thanks for the information on everything and your suggested additives. Hey and just thanks for the help its appreciated

    Peace,
    Bill

the products available these days are endless, what combinations to use can be a mystery. Since you are using 3-part by GH, why not stick with GH supplements for now, at least you can count on them all being compatible.

If you plan to use distilled or RO water, It is recomended you supplement with Cal-Mag. Most experienced hydro growers around here all use it. Good clean and clear filtered water lacks a bit of what Cal-mag puts back in.

I use Silca Blast because of the high temps I have in my cabinet at times. If you run temps around 90 degr. and up, Silica Blast is recomended, along with CO2 to compete with the heat.

I know I already mentioned Hygrozyme, it especially helps if you have small pots to grow in (like ebb and flow grow pots), or little root space to grow in.

My combination of nutes will be my recipe for a long time. It has brought me great success. Stable pH, consistant growth, maximum effeciency, no surprises.

If you decide to follow the GH phase feeding chart, or weekly feed chart, ignore the recomendations of FloraSheild. It seems like they recomend adding it (37.5 ml per gallon) at every nutrient change. It should only be used as a "medicine" if you have root rot problem, or nutrient lock-up, and not in combination with any other additives or nutrients. In fact Florasheild IS NOT compatible with Floraliscous (grow/bloom/ or Plus). I learned this the hard way. I wrote GH about it, they need to make it more clear. They admitted that it is a bit unclear as directed. Florasheild promotes a sterile cleansing anti-microbial environment, while supplements like Floraliscous Plus contain beneficial bacteria which is counteracted by Florasheild.

    Can't stress that enough.
