No it is totally legal. I only purchase and collect military firearms. I have the AR-15 version of the M4 which is only semi-automatic, but I don't have too many, just my M1 Garand, AK-47, SKS, rem870, M4, HK USP45, and of course my original bolt action 22 from childhood. Next in line I'm getting a HKG3 and I'm building a M1A or M14. Maryland has shitty gun control laws, but ironically it is one of the states that class 3 FFA firearms are very easy to get, provided you have a clean record. Class 3 are suppressed or fully-automatic firearms. My cousin has quiet a few machine guns and submachineguns. They are totally legal with the proper paperwork through the ATF.
