the honnest and true truth is that you do it to yourself by believing they can.

sure... they can fuck ur body up a little (im only talking about mind operning drugs... not meth or crack or any of that bullshit) but overall i think its worth it for the enlightenment they can bring.
And i would love to write a book about stuff like that. My goal in life is to be a philosopher

Hell yeah, shrooms and pot give you that euphoric state of mind that all other people dont understand. i believe that these all-natural drugs are and were used for these kinds of things i love being in an altered state of mind. Ive seen people 100% against pot, then try it and love it. Peace

Doors of Perception is some pretty heavy reading. What you'll find a hell of a lot more interesting is Timothy Leary's Eight Circuit Model of Consciousness, which you can read here. A lot of what it says echos your own thoughts. If you ever want more info, PM me, I've read a lot of stuff on the subject.

dude... salvia can turn on any of the last 5 states.
salvia is by far one of the most powerful, most enlightening trips you can have. it is hard to understand what it teaches, and it can never be explaind, but it is awesome and should be tried by anybody wanting to know

Anyways, I think this is true with some drugs. Doctors say that the average human being uses only 10% of their brain. Doesn't that make you wonder what the remaining 90% is doing? I believe these are stored memories, from the smallest thing to the biggest. From remebering a sunset by the ocean to seeing a bug grossly splattered on your windsheild. I think that some drugs, such as LSD, shrooms, ayahuasca, open up these certain parts in your brain that are not active while sober. Taking these substances opens them up resulting in distorted vision(eg. colors, flowing) or visions themselves
I, myself, have taken all 3 of these drugs and have had exp. with them. I remeber clearly ayahuasca trip. I remeber seeing old relatives from years ago, old school buddies from kindergarden, and, believe me or not, saw an old friend of mine who committed suicide and finally put my mind at rest. Aya. widely used by Brazilian tribes as a "cleansing" of your body. Some people have even remembered their moment in childbirth while on Aya.
Everything you have ever seen, felt or seen with your own 2 eyes, those memories are forever in your brain.
My 2 cents.

Much of what has been said is true. Many people who believe that any artificially created state of mind isn't worth anything are very short sighted. The fact is that hallucinations arn't really enduced rather they're unlocked (psycopharmacological study). Psychedellics disrupt the neurochemicals that seperate sub-concious thought, memory, and concious perception. So what you're seeing with psychedellics is whats actually happening throughout different levels of conciousness and perception.
