it's the opposite for me. when i'm sober, i'm often too focused on what i'm doing that i become very self-critical. it's not as pleasing to me as when i'm high. being high does allow me to think more fluently, and get caught in the "flow" of things. for me, it's kind of like the pressure is on when i'm engaging in some kind of art, but being stoned and realizing, "wow, i'm high" brings more of a care-free, easy-going environment to the table. i also find myself quitting a project halfway, or just plain out not giving a damn due to frustration (when i'm sober).
