whoa no one voted for Phish? They are like the greatest touring band of the 90's! They sell out 80,000 capacity festivals on Air force bases in remote corners of the NE USA! They are the only band playing in upstate Maine, 17 hours from the Maine border, like 24 hours from any big city, and 80,000 people come and camp on the runway and rock out for the weekend!!!
I saw their last concerts ever.. They played a Air force base in their homestate of upstate Vermont. I flew 5 hours from San Franciso to Boston, Rented a car, drove thru New hampshire and Vermont to about 20 miles from the Canadian Border. Sat in the concert traffic for 40 hours (not exagerating at all), then abandoned the rental on the side of the freeway the day of the concert b/c we were no where near the festival grounds and it was the day of the show.. Hiked in about 12 miles (again not exaggerating, we hiked thru five townships), and walked down the runway right up to the stage and rocked it. Ran into a friend before the third set who let us stay in his tent b/c he made it thru traffic and got into the grounds...
And it was worth every struggle... These guys put on mindmelting live shows!
