I have taken acid twice, and both times I didn't trip. the first time I definitely felt it, like some things were all colorful and whatnot, but I still knew where I was and had a pretty good grasp on reality.

Then I took 2 hits another time hoping to trip, but instead I went to sleep 4 hours later. Maybe its just me, I'll just stick to weed thank you.
