As far as fertilizers go, a good all around fertilizer to use would be something like 10-20-20 or 16-16-16. This is what I and many other farmers use on their vegetables and gardens. Granulated fertilizers are pretty good, because they release slowly over time. After my plants are well established, I usually side dress my plants with a decent time-released fertilizer according to the label.
