Because if you had substantial evidence to prove they had any of those things, other than them merely being "Rhag heads", I'd think you'd be able to pull a warrant.

I don't understand how you can possibly defend something that completely obliterates a foundation of this country. Personally, it goes beyond just the warrant thing. That's just a cheap reply. To me, it's what it represents. Unregulated ability to search anybody without any supervision simply because your letter is entitled, "National Security?" It's a fair counter-argument to say that if you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to worry about, but I think that's too vague a statement. Simply put, even though it's a bit extreme, this is how oppressive governments start to form. Obviously that won't happen simply because of the Patriot Act, but take a right away here, another one there... it's just something that completely contradicts a foundation of this country that I think it should be done away with.

If you haven't seen Good Night and Good Luck, or if your unfamiliar with the journalism work of Edward Murrow, he wisely said, "You cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home." Wouldn't you agree?
