the 2 inch rule applies for florescent lighting systems for minimal growing room and low lumens and watt output lights..
If you cant grow it..dont smoke it!

Just water it when its slightly dry on the top of the soil. At this point in the plants life you should be experienced enough to know when your plants need water or not.

Good Watering cycle for Veg ?

    canabiznis-

    hi : )

water the plant whenever the pot feels light or the top 2-3 inches of the soil are dry.. or if your leaves are drooping.. YIKES!

you can check the soil by putting your finger in the DIRT!! : )

When the plant is young you may need to only water every 7 days.. but as it gets older it will drink a lot more water and you may need to start watering every other day.. depending on room temp

you ideally want to water HEAVY and then let dry.. water heavy.. let dry, water heavy, let dry..

the reason for this, is you want all the dirt to get saturated so that the roots can get water in all parts of your pot.. you want it to dry so that the roots get adequate oxygen....

you can bring the lights closer but it just means you need more AIR flow...
if you can keep your light cool.. you can bring it to within a couple inches....

    YOUR BUDS will BE BIGGER..

    and now you KNOW

    : )

Niice just what i was looking for you always have good answers
...The temperature was around the low & mid 80's today -in the grow room- and the humidity was around the 40's ..i have a pretty good size fan blowing the hot air out of the closet and the light sits a little over 2 feet above..Still in veg growth, the 2 big leafs are drooping a little but plant is growing more & more everyday..Im growing 5 and which ever one looks healthiest by flowering is the one ill continue to grow, my pot isnt big enough to grow all 5..and transplanting is 2 green thumbs down for me ..

P.S Reminder: Avocado plant pics ...oh and i was meaning to ask you if that dvd from your link was any good..

Gardenknowm has pretty much summed it all up. Make sure you put the thermom at plant level.. that way you'll know how far you can bring that light down to. And test it with your hand just to be sure. I would recommend using a high output energy saving compact flouro during the early stages of veg. That way you save on electricity, bulb life, cooling concerns etc etc. Plus node spacing and secondary growth is amazing.
I use a 48w (240w equiv) cfl, 5000k. Watering twice a week (once with half strength nutes). I personally don't like touching or digging around in the soil. Probably no merit to this theory but who knows what bacteria/mould I might spread to the soil from my hands.

Water for the size of the plant, not the size of the pot.
