Well the rootball will grow out and that will stablize the upward growth for sure. Feeder roots will go down or really go anywhere to find food. If the rootball is bound then the over all growth will be affected.

Problem growing in a 3 liter bottle is the roots bound very quickly and easly and clog the drain holes and that caused nutrient imbalance and other problems, over watering is just one of many problems to consider.
