Marijuana laws in Australia?

Not that anyone here including myself *winks at DEA* smokes Marijuana, but I have been exposed to information that reports relaxed Marijuana laws in Australia, mostly the western, rural territory. This inspires interest me, as I have always been a fan of the country.

I heard something about you can have an ounce somewhere in the states it might be colorado i dunno, can anyone confirm this? ( it may be a different state)

yes, you can have an ounce i denver, new law, but state and national govt can still bust u. alaska has some awesome laws for weed. legal to posses and grow or something. norml.com

smoke, pot IS legal, but state and federal laws prohibit it, so the legality is cancelled out. but nonetheless it is a BIG victory for us fellow stoners.

Ok, i believe that you are alowed to grow up to 3 plants in most states of Australia except for victoria and maybe NSW where u cant grow any, but in western Australia you can grow up to 7 plants and you are able to consume this on your own private property.
When i was still in high school we had someone come and talk to us about drugs and he said that.
There are also places like nimbin in NSW that is basicle like ampsterdam, although it is still illigal you can pretty much openly buy, sell and smoke it on the street and the cops dont care at all. Google Nimbin if you dont believe me .

Yeah I'm from Australia and I don't thinks its legal to grow or smoke in any state. I've heard rumors that its decriminalized in the state of South Aust. But I think that some states just have more relaxed laws. There have been news articles recently about strengthening state laws in regards to growing and possesion even further. This has something to do with too many people ending up with psychosis and filling up the mental heath system. I agree to a point but think that most of these patients also 'dabble' in amphetamine use and or start smoking when they are way too young.
