ya they do cuz when ur caught its a very big thing and many people find out that ur a crimminal including ur school and job and ur record is fucked up and to some people ur record is ur life cuz u worked much of ur life for that clean record.
there are soooooooooo many different ways u could get caught for weed with different concequences, some infinately harsher than others.

Living in canada with a fairly opened minded family, it's not really a concern for me. but even if I lived in the states and my family would flip right out, I'd STILL smoke it as much as I want. give me a criminal record? who cares. I'm not denying myself a basic human right because of some ignorant government's bullshit laws, and neither should anybody. We quit smoking because we're afraid of the law, then we're letting them win, and change doesn't happen by giving in.

When i say fuck up your life i mean get caught for possesion or whatever, and have that on ur record forever. possesion can mean more than just a jail sentence and rehab and shit, it can cause a lot of other things to fuck over real bad, like getting caught doing it in ur car or something.

only 3 days back i totaled my van wit 2 friends inside, both of them fled the scene cuz 1 had some bud on him. also, i toked in that van quite frequently. nothing happend but just the thought of what could happen.....

my dad has been talking to me about it and really wants me to stop cuz he says "if you continue to do this, i can guarantee that one of these days i will be called by the police and be told that you are sitting in the police station for drugs."

some of you might say that a life of smoking weed is worth it, but u dont even know if ull make it that far. ull prolly fuck up muuuuch earlier and regret u ever touched the shit.

or, do some of you really think that possesion isnt really that bad and life does go on after it? oh and try to explain how not being able to get the job u want isnt really that bad.

If i ever get caught with weed (which i havent yet) then i dun care. I smoke weed, and im going to as long as i want too. Its definitly wouldent be the end for me and it wouldent fuck up my life because i wont let it, and as long as i know that then toke on i shall.

I've been reading this thread and thinking a lot on it. I'm like you, I live at home and I care what my family thinks. I can't afford to get in trouble because I'm in school to be a teacher...and a possesion charge could definitly hurt me.

But like anything...you're only going to get in trouble if you get caught. Regardless of what anyone does, there is always SOME chance of being caught, but there are always steps that can be taken to avoid it.

In my case, I don't smoke very often. I don't seem like the "type" of person who would smoke. I don't do it in my truck AT ALL because then something like a busted tail light could turn into is that a stem on your carpet, and I could get caught. If you eliminate the possibility for situations like that in your life, you're fine.

Even in your scenario about meeting with your dealer. If you're worried, then when you meet with your dealer put whatever you bought straight into your pocket or whatever you may have and leave. Go home. If you happened to get pulled over, and you're not high...and have done nothing criminally wrong, you won't even be searched.

Not only that, but in most states a first offense only get's you a fine.

If you take the right precautions it's very likely you'll never get caught. Only 4 people know I smoke, and I know that they are not people who would ever say anything to anyone.

Keep your business exactly that, your business. If you smoke at a party...you're asking for it...and if you're not prepared to handle what the consequences may be...then maybe you shouldn't be doing what you're doing.

It's all a matter of personal responsibility for you actions, and knowing how to at least cut back the risks for being caught. There is after all such thing as a smart pot head...and this one right here...doesn't intend on ever being caught.

eh people say it stays on ur record.... i know this guy at my school, he had only just started, and got caught with 7 gs on him. had tospend the night in prison, and im sure that stayed on his record.

a good lawyer can fix that up for you. whose side are you on, man? it sounds to me like your speaking right out of your father's mouth, telling us what to do like we're your children. we have our god-given choices to make. everyone was a little paranoid when they started smoking. you've got to learn how to be responsible and still maintain while under the influence of marijuana. these problems are normal. facing them and overcoming them is the key to opening the heavenly door of marijuanas intent.
