Another story of "three sheets to the wind" , they are referring to wind mills. There are four wooden blades that sheets are pulled down to catch the wind, two if its real windy and four when its not, always distributed evenly. If you were to pull three sheets down the blades the wind mill would wobble and be off balance. my 2 cents
