I would be interested in seeing the text of that legislation since I was definitely not aware that you could be executed for sale/possession of even huge quantities of marijuana. I am assuming that this would affect the entire nation, (i.e. a federal law) so what happens to states that do not carry the death penalty? Overruled? Also, from all I have read so far it appears that the most the US could do to Marc Emery is attempt to put him in jail for life (that is if Canada cooperates and extradites him - which I hope they do not). Marc Emery is a true pot crusader and I think it is quite obvious that his arrest was politically motivated (multitudes of other Canadian seed sellers were left untouched) seeing his outspoken stance and financial power in combating the immoral marijuana laws that pervade our society. In the United States of America, supposedly the "land of the free," you can get the DEATH PENALTY for nonviolent, victimless crime. Specifically, for the possession/sale of 60,000 kg marijuana OR 60,000 plants OR 60,000 seeds. Apparently a seed is considered a plant.
