I'm sorry to hear about what you went through there. Sometimes we all forget what it was like to be young (although I admit to being amused by "goth" quite a bit back in the day).

To understand why some (at least some) of us are amused though, imagine a 4 year old dressed all in black, wearing fantastic makeup and trying way to hard to be morbid and depressed.
Yeah, that's what we see.

For some reason it reminds me of pictures I got of my 3 year old cousin dressed up as Puff the Magic Dragon for halloween.

Maybe that's not how it is for you. Maybe for you it's different experiences, emotions and situations, but goth is a label. goth is a label people take up willingly to identify with. If you're going to conform to a label, then you'll have to expect to be labelled by it.

So in retrospect I realise this might all sound somewhat insulting... well, I'll apoligize in advance it case it does... But maybe you can explain your outlook...
