    aeroponic ph question

Ph for Aeroponics or any hydroponics is 5.2 - 5.5 but in truth you can go up to 5.8 - 6.2 and still be ok later in the cycle. (Like after the first 30 day's)

It will creap up but you should bring it back down every day sometime twice a day. to normal range. 7.0 is more for dirt farming and not Hysroponics

    aeroponic ph question

first you need to measure it....then you need to lower it. i saw this in another post.

"Bill don't use that stuff, it is not food grad acid based so you can't use it for your plants.

To answer you next question Baking soda and Lemon juice make good Ph Up and Down but they do not last as long as the commercial versions do.

    aeroponic ph question

(since this thread is still alive)...i have noticed that whenever i refill my rez, the ph will go down from 6.0- to 5.5 then after a few days will creep back up and will require adjustment (ph down). this seems to be a pretty regular affair. i assume this has to do with nutrient uptake....am i wrong? just curious.....

hey dude.. 7.o is high.. definitley HIGH

BUT...BUT.. can you post a pic..
    How do your plants look..?

LIke ZANDOR said.. aero is usually lower...

6.0 is always a good target..

Maybe your ph meter is off, or your plants like 7.o... or Your nutrients have some unknown factor...

I took this tour of a hydro facility and the MAIN cat told me that
plants give "something" off in the water that raises the PH..

    very normal

you can see why it is ok to ph your water at 5.2 and just let it rise to 6.o..

then you get the whole spectrum of nutrient absorbtion!!
    : )

Zandor, I am new to the site and have a couple questions you may be able to answer. I have 12 plants in a Deep Water Culture system. They have been in the system for two weeks now and are looking good. I am curious why the pH climbs daily. The first week it appeared that they wanted the water more than the nutes as the PPM was very steady. This week the PPM is dropping gradualy which I assume means they are feeding. I plan to change the solution today and set the PPM at around 1100. I took some pics at one week if you want/need to see them.

My second question is this: I use a 1000 watt HPS on a 6 foot motorized track. If I wanted to expand my next grow do you feel this is enough light given the distance it travels? In other words, since it would be six feet away from the plants for a minute or so on each travel down the rail is this a problem for the plants or does it not matter? I am currently using about 2/3 of the travel with the pause at each end set at 30 seconds.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well thx man... i assumed it had to do w/ the plants absorbing the nutes from the water thus creating a more alkaline medium.

ANYWAYS......how bout this one. i want to cut my plants off from nitrogen to get rid of the "green" taste.

1.what ph level am i shooting for to accomplish this?

    2. at what point in flowering do make this adjustment.

you guys are the shiznit

Light movers are fine and I know of many people who use 10' rails. I prefer the 6' rails when I have grows that can use them. Do the math for the foot print of your light. 1000w HPS lights have a foot print about 4' or so it's just the ends that don't have full time light but that's ok you still get good coverage. Just watch the temperature at the top of the canopy and you will be fine.
