In the Big Apple: If You See Something, Say Something!

People that ride the buses and subways in New York City are constantly barraged with public address system announcements urging citizens to report suspicious packages, people, etc.

Well, today I did exactly that. There was a woman, wearing a burka, with packages, on an elevated subway platform. She was sitting in the middle of a row of seats, and nobody was sitting beside her because they were wary. I knew that there was a police officer, below, in the station. I went down the steps and told him about it. He promptly came up, surveyed the situation, and people felt comfortable enough to sit down while waiting for the next arriving train.

If You See Something, Say Something
The vigilance of all New Yorkers has kept MTA buses, subways, and railroads safe.
The MTA thanks our passengers and reminds them to:
    · Be alert to unattended packages.
    · Be wary of suspicious behavior.
    · Take notice of people in bulky or inappropriate clothing.
    · Report exposed wiring or other irregularities.
    · Report anyone tampering with surveillance cameras or entering unauthorized areas.
    · Learn the basics of safe train evacuation
And remember, if you see something, say something. Alert a police officer, train or bus operator, station personnel.

Someone is a little paranoid. What exactly was suspicious about her? That she was muslim? And I'm sure the lady that you bothered would love to thank you for wasting her time.

Maybe next time you can go to a mosque and wait for all the women in burkas to leave, ask them all for their names, jot them down, and call the cops just in case one of them decides to plant a bomb on a train.

I do not know if she was a Muslim, but I donâ??t know of any women that wear those hideous burkas that are not.

Her time was not wasted, because the cop simply showed his presence - he didnâ??t even say one word to her.

I know one thing: If they DO bomb anything again here, and people are killed, the streets are going to run red with their blood.

You and that other Asshole From Nebraska, who that said that I'm "fucking retarded", don't seem to understand that by talking to the police officer, I was trying to PREVENT possible violence against innocent people, and (maybe) not-so-innocent ones, as well.

Way to support racial profiling, you are a real patriot! Those damned rag heads can't be trusted! We should have separate parts of cities were we force them to live, or better yet we could create camps were we could send them so we don't have to even think about them. Yeah! We could send them all there on train packed to the gills, and when the camps get to crowded we could just make them "disappear"!

    Fuck you, you fucking bigot.

    Sincerely,

"Bigot: a person who has strong, unreasonable beliefs and who thinks that anyone who does not have the same beliefs is wrong- example: a religious bigot"

This is what I'm talking about. We have over 100 ethnic groups in Brooklyn, and I work, socialize, and live in harmony with members of many of them every day - without problems. If I didn't like "diversity", I'd move.

Most Americans would be considered, by firm believers in the koran, to be an "infidels" that must be killed. I do not like the people that support these doctrines, wherever they come from. If you consider this bigotry, you are crazy.

You are an extremely disillusioned person if you think that the supporters of jihad terrorists are your friends. They'll kill you in a New York minute, given the opportunity. People like you, that curse out citizens who love freedom, may get what they wish for someday: an Islamic Theocracy in America, which is the goal of the Moslem practitioners. Unfortunately, if they do this, you'll either join them, or become their victim. If this happens, and they gain power, youâ??d better start praising Allah, or else face the consequences. And forget about any criticisms, or parodies, of their religion. The Dutch, and others, already learned the hard way what happens when somebody tries it.

I understand that you're scared, but there is absolutely no need for the level of intolerance that you exhibiting. You might also ask one of the people you socialize with what the Koran actually says about killing for any reason.

And how did you know that "an Islamic Theocracy in America" just beat out "world that rains candy" as my number one wish? Furthermore, I will curse out anyone who is an intolerant bigot (yes I used it again because it does apply to you. read your definition and contemplate it for a while). I have no doubt that you love freedom. Freedom for you, freedom for the select few, not for the many Muslim Americans or Americans of Islamic descent. You should go to where the World Trade Center used to stand and think to yourself: "This is what misdirected hate, anger and fear results in. The only difference between them and me is that I haven't taken it out on anyone innocent. Yet."
