Man, I've been to so many rock shows, been elbowed, beaten down black and blue but still had a fun time. Just try and defend yourself in the pit. If you get hit, hit the fuckers right back. Toss some elbows, jump up into the crowd.

I went to a SNFU show here recently, their a old school punk band still running strong, and I was laughing in the pit, having a good time. I rocked every fucker there and was even going at it with the bouncers. They were smiling too as I "tried" to make my way to the stage. Great fun man, great fun. I'm a big guy so when I do actually fall, I fall pretty hard.

Been to Pantera/Slipknot show in '99, never seen so much blood in the bathroom. Broken noses from left to right, but if you're worried about getting beaten too hard, back out of the pit. I've done that. I saw Strung Out a few years ago and couldn't even mosh without falling because of too many beers in me, but I made up for it when they came back last year.

Anyways, have fun in the pit, and if you don't want to get hurt, stay the fuck out.
