It works like this. In order for another party to recieve national attention, they would have to A. have a candidate that is both charismatic, and intellectual, and B. have a candidate who can raise great sums of money like good old George W. Or, the candidate could have allot of money and spend his own on campaigning.

The problem is, it would be very hard to thrust the independent party or another third party into the White House because our legislature is dominated with the Democrats and Republicans. And when it comes to truly electing the president, the house votes the president in, based on what the election outcomes in thier respective state. So it would be hard for a state dominated by democrats to have a republican outcome, let alone another third party.

Political parties are nothing more than a support system for weak candidates, all while being a crutch for strong ones. They generally tend to agree on most issues, and defend eachother based on party affiliaton.

You know what i love. When the legislature is dominated by one party, and the executive branch dominated by another. It shows a voice from the public.

You want this to change? You have to vote. If you dont like the parties, than vote in the primaries from march-may. Vote for the independents, if they truly represent your views.

If all the people in this country who have a Libertarian view voted in that mannor, than they would recieve 13% needed to obtain federal funding. And with that funding, they would have a vast resource to run a truly effective campaign. Vote libertarian, vote independent, vote Centralist, just vote!!!
