Different story from what? It's in the Bible. It's all the same book. And I still haven't seen any evidence that there even was such a person named Moses, or that there ever were enslaved Jews in Egypt who then wandered around in the desert for 40 years (you'd think they'd have left some archeological evidence somewhere).

How can anyone say that the Bible is a book of peace, when it is filled with such heinous expressions of pure hatred and intolerance? I really don't see how it could possibly be construed as a message of peace, when the deity it describes is such an asshole to everybody who disagrees with him. Here are just some of the HUNDREDS OF VERSES illustrating this:

To start out, there's the clear admission by Jesus that his mission is actually to bring conflict and war to the Earth:

And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
And anyone who forgets about God will be torn to pieces:

I'm sure you're familiar with the plagues, in which God ruthlessly murders the first born child of all the Egyptians, who supposedly were keeping the Jews as slaves. Not the people committing the crimes, but THEIR CHILDREN! He doesn't use his infinite superpowers to directly solve the problem, but chooses instead to murder innocent little kids. Some loving God that is.

Whether you go to Heaven or Hell is totally dependent on whether you believe in Jesus. So Jeffrey Dahmer goes to Heaven but Gandhi goes to Hell and is tortured for all eternity. How could a peaceful, tolerant, loving God do something like that?

And then there's the story about how this supposedly loving God murders forty-two more innocent children by sending bears to rip them to pieces, just because they made fun of Elisha's baldress:

And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
Then there's the part where God orders his chosen people to kill all the Amalekites because the ancestors of the Amalekites got in their way hundreds of years ago when they were trying to cross the desert. It's not just innocent children who are murdered this time, but a whole innocent people. That's genocide any way you look at it.

What more proof do you need that this is some of the most vile hate literature in all of history? The insensitivity and outright cruelty of this stuff makes me sick to my stomach. I will never become a Christian because I could never subscribe to an ideology that condones genocide and murder, or an ideology that says the genocidal child-murdering dictator of the universe is somehow all-loving and cares about you. Peace will never come to Earth until Christianity and all other doctrines of hatred are abandoned.
