Different story from what? It's in the Bible. It's all the same book. And I still haven't seen any evidence that there even was such a person named Moses, or that there ever were enslaved Jews in Egypt who then wandered around in the desert for 40 years (you'd think they'd have left some archeological evidence somewhere).
How can anyone say that the Bible is a book of peace, when it is filled with such heinous expressions of pure hatred and intolerance? I really don't see how it could possibly be construed as a message of peace, when the deity it describes is such an asshole to everybody who disagrees with him. Here are just some of the HUNDREDS OF VERSES illustrating this:
To start out, there's the clear admission by Jesus that his mission is actually to bring conflict and war to the Earth:
And anyone who forgets about God will be torn to pieces:

Whether you go to Heaven or Hell is totally dependent on whether you believe in Jesus. So Jeffrey Dahmer goes to Heaven but Gandhi goes to Hell and is tortured for all eternity. How could a peaceful, tolerant, loving God do something like that?

I will never become a Christian because I could never subscribe to an ideology that condones genocide and murder, or an ideology that says the genocidal child-murdering dictator of the universe is somehow all-loving and cares about you. Peace will never come to Earth until Christianity and all other doctrines of hatred are abandoned.

And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
But before that, he warned his Apostles that "Brother will betray brother to death, fathers will betray their own children, and children will rise against their parents and cause them to be killed." Matthew 10:21
Which is true.
And right before that "sword" reference (Matthew 10:32, 33), Jesus says, "If anyone acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will openly acknowledge that person before my Father in heaven. But if anyone denies me here on earth, I will deny that person before my Father in heaven."
So, take the end of the conversation and not the whole, and base Christ upon his words.
Even if Moses didn't exist, someone wrote those scriptures a thousand years before Christ. Ok, Moses told me it wasn't him, it was Elijah. I don't care if his name was Ben, they were written and Jesus Christ taught those words.
Back to the sword statement, in which after, he says (Matthew 10:39) "If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it up for me, you will find it."

Let's talk about Mary Magdalene....
If she was caught in the act of adultery and a group of men were about to stone her to death, where was the man she was caught with? why wasn't he about to be stoned?

Have you mentioned that this book of Matthew's purpose is to show that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah the Jews had waited for since the Old Testament times?
Also, did you mention that your "sword" quote was only a pep talk to the Apostles?

No, and I don't see how that changes anything.

Or is he a different entity, or what...I've never gotten a straightforward answer to that). And what kind of a peaceful creature tells everybody to either believe in him or be tortured for all eternity? That's a pretty harsh threat from somebody who supposedly preaches peace and tolerance. Also, did you mention that your "sword" quote was only a pep talk to the Apostles?
No matter how you look at it, someone who sends Jeffrey Dahmer to Heaven and Gandhi to Hell, who eternally tortures anyone who refuses to blindly believe things with no proof, who murders innocent children for the crimes of their parents and for making fun of bald people, who condones slavery, and who orders genocide to be carried out, has to be the cruelest being in the universe. How can such a being ever be worthy of worship? I'd rather worship Hitler.

I don't believe in Hell, Ermontito.
Jesus said that's what people do. Brothers kill Brothers, Children disobey parents, and Spouses sleep around. He was telling them not to trust anyone, for they will be killed.
The prophecies of a Messiah caused an entire religion to want to get rid of one guy. If they were wrong about that "one guy" being Jesus Christ, than that's as bad as our nation executing the wrong guy for Ted Bundy's killings. The guy who really did it, is still on the loose. So is the real Jesus Christ. In fact, the real Jesus Christ is the guy who busted out the other Jesus Christ when he was entombed... :stoned:
