What I've found out, after just germinating seeds; both from Nirvana and shwag ones... this is what worked for me... I used a shallow dish, paper towel on the bottom, paper towel on top (both double layer), added water (i used filtered tap, but RO or any 'pure' would be fine too) and covered with foil. NO LIGHT. Normal germination for a seed happens in the dark, and that's what you also want to create.

First seeds cracked in less than 12 hours with a tap root showing in about 18-24 hours, last seed popped after 48 and with an agressive tap root, and still have 1 left that I hope will pop too. 90% germination is not bad.

No lights though. And for heat, I just put the dish on top of the ballast for my 400 W HPS, nice and warm.
