Both Russia and China - heavily reliant on Iranian energy - would probably block any Security Council vote against Iran.

Russia exports oil, they might very well vote against Iran, if only to make their own oil more expensive. Of course it only takes one to veto a resolution, a fact the US has used many times to protect Israel. But you're right, we are not the only ones willing to play hardball over oil.
