the mission accomplished sign was put there by the captain of the ship to signify the completion of the 25 sorties carried out by the pilots aboard the ship.

Those words have never been uttered by the president, as a matter of fact hesaid in the speech aboard the ship that "the war will go on and many battles lay ahead."

and as far as saying that the war would go on and there were many battles yet to fight, i read that as meaning, "you thought the war on drugs was a huge waste of time and money? whew! wait til you check out this never-ending war on terror!", as opposed to talking about iraq.

nor did the administration Ever say that Saddam Hussein HAD weapons of mass destruction, we went to war before they could obtain them. I challenge you to find a copy of the speech,or any speech where its quoted W saying Saddam HAD WMD.

i agree. i hadn't stated in my post that he had.
rather, i was trying to get across that his statement about the war being far from over and many more battles yadda yadda, refered to this never-ending war on terror. it can't stop because then he'd have no way to pull attention away from what the admin. is really about.

he did make a major photo opp... er, speech, in front of a banner reading mission accomplished. you say this had nothing to do w/ the operations in iraq, that it refered to something having nothing to do w/ the president's speech.

again, i say that's doublespeak.

to clarify, i think the never-ending war on terror is a very different thing from the war in iraq. iraq was just the first act of this game to keep us voting w/ our emotions as opposed to voting w/ reason and logic.

Looking back through the history of warfare though, most of them died for petty reasons.
Of course, influenze has killed more people than war. But that's besides the point.
