I read about this in High Times a couple of years back. But the way they told it, the son of the head of the CIA gave Bob a pair of boots backstage at one of his concerts. When he put those boots on he was pricked in his toe by a needle. The speculation was that there were carcinogens on that needle. The real shitty part was when he went to Miami for cancer treatment the first thing his doctor told him was "They tell me your the most dangerous black man in the world." Then they told him that they couldn't treat him so they referred him to a doctor in Europe, who just so happened to be a former Nazi scientist. His "treatment" was to insert long needles into his navel for a cancer in his toe. This is just the gist of what I read, but if this is true, then it was a slow assassination coupled with torture. Or he could have just got cancer in his toe, and due to his beliefs that one shouldn't be cut open, it spread through his body killing him. Oh, and there is no way you can get cancer in your toe from smoking, that's just propaganda defaming one of the greatest proponents of marijuana.
