Man i am tired of people thinking that i am a big pot head who sits around and does nothing, the most productive things i do is on pot damnit! Why cant people just understand, all my friends that dont smoke as much use it to go crazy and stupid stuff..... I use it as a stress reliever, it makes more socialable (sp) and it also helps me to really get things done for some reason.... pot isnt just for going crazy dont you think? I mean thats ok if you use it for that but if you have ever tried to relax on pot, it isnt that hard. What should i tell my friends, that i dont get high like they do? it just bothers me, i dont want to get the reputation of being another stupid stoner...... thats my rant

Well that goes along with the whole thing. Society is going to think of you as a stupid stoner no matter what. But what you can do is be yourself and prove that you aren't stupid. Be one of those stoners that people are like "dude he smokes so much bud but he's like the smartest mofo I know". There are people out there that smoke bud and are very intelligent people. Just keep making yourself better and overcome the perceptions people have of us "potheads". If you are in school or college make great grades. That's the number one thing. And be a really easy going person. That way when those critics who have never smoked in their life start to tell you that your stupid and are a reject to society you can say "hey asshole do you have a 3.5 gpa? NO. I'm smarter than you are AND I'm a stoner. So shut the fuck up."

But why have so many cannabis users embraced the 420 concept?

I believe 420 is a ritualization of cannabis use that holds deep meaning for our subculture. It also points us in a direction for the responsible use of cannabis. Before one can understand the difference between responsible and irresponsible use of cannabis, one must come to terms with the fact there are really two cannabis cultures in America, smart stoners and stupid stoners.

The stupid stoners wake and bake on exam days. They think being high is an end in itself and strive to be stoned as often as possible. When a stupid stoner shows up at your house, they usually feel it's their duty to compulsively decimate whatever stash you have immediately and save nothing for later. I'm sure we all know a few of these people. The stupid stoners are the people Cheech and Chong made fun of when they created the most widely accepted stereotype of a pothead.

The smart stoners, on the other hand, are the ones who use cannabis as a creative tool to enhance their lives. They know cannabis can be an asset if used intelligently. Bob Marley, Willie Nelson, Louis Armstrong, Ken Kesey, and Stephen Gaskin are among the many cultural icons that fall into the smart stoner category.
