UNT is one of the best schools in the country for music, how can you disregard the credibility of a university of which you do not even know? It does cover all of those courses, I was referring to my high school.

You believe I lack intelligence as well as education and see me as a minimum wage nothing, but from a realistic perspective, I am a sophomore in college at the age of 18. I didn't miss out on anything. I skipped 2 useless years of shit I could take in college and go way more in depth with it there.

The problem isn't funding? The problem isn't the system? It's the students? Right. Do some research. If you think I'm bullshitting, look it up. Ironically, one of the last reports I did in my high school AP english class was a free essay on the lack or misuse of funding in our schools, I've done the research. Don't challenge me to do it. I know I am right, you are the one that is uncertain.

Last- it's a person's right to put whatever they want into their body, lose however much money they want to gambling, hear the truth on the news, read whatever book, or learn about whatever they want, not without consiquence, of course. But the consiquence should not be enforced by the government. I don't even know where to begin about the war on drugs and it's spiralling effects on America and Americans. Just know this, the majority of the problems that surround drugs stem from the government's fear of anything that makes you realize how much their system sucks.

The problem with education now is that people no longer value the education itself, just the diploma. Who cares if you learn anything as long as you get that magical sheet of paper? It seems people have forgotten that what is really important is not the diploma but the knowledge that it represents.

My old girlfriend's sister is a high school teacher and I can't believe the stories she tells me. Not just about the students, but about the parents and system as well. She had a student who rarely came to class and did not pass a single test. When her parents came for a parent teacher conference the accused her of failing their daughter because she(the teacher) didn't like her. They said their daughter told them she came to all the classes and did great on the tests and if her teacher said otherwise, she was lying. They then demanded that their daughter get at least a B grade for the class. Bottom line is that they only cared that their daughters teacher was failing her, not why she was failing.

But it's not just the parents and students. My girlfriends sister was also told by the administration that she was grading too harshly. She showed me a paper written by one of her students that she had to give a B grade on and I couldn't believe it. When I was in high school (class of '87) it would have gotten an F, no doubt about it. But she had to give it a B. Why, because more students need to pass the class and get their diplomas. It's no wonder why over 30% of the students entering the California State University system need remedial math and English.

High school should prepare you to enter into college. To say that it is only "shit I could take in college " is ridiculous. If you're taking high school classes in college when will you take the college level classes?? That's like saying a house doesn't need a foundation because the carpeting on the floor is what really counts. Obviously the college courses will go into more depth. Duh? But just think how much more in depth they could go if they didn't need to cover the basics that should be covered in high school.

I agree 200%. True, the diploma, or the degree might get you farther in life, but that diploma or degree doesn't necessarily (or even usually) indicate a more intelligent individual. It's just like grades. I can't believe people think that a person who gets bad grades is automatically dumb. It's ridiculous the mindset people have.

i dont let the governemnt think for me, but I realize it set up public education in my best interest. where did you miss this? probably when you were dropping acid in special ed class.
Education isn't what it used to be and since you can't PLAINLY see that, I'd assume that you are another pod. The public education system is in your best interest but the idiots running things can't see things for what they are... they can only see grades or 'statistics'. Teachers are the only people who know shit but we still have our retarded drone teachers... whatever... school is great but it's not about education anymore, sorry. It's about doing work.

Meanwhile, I was in honors being amused by the mindlessness of the herds of conformists, the quality of our horrendous, biased educational system, and the ignorance of individuals just like you who somehow get it in their thick heads that there is anything remotely logically correct in the manner in which our system is run. I was winning essay contests and contemplating in wonder the corruption, injustice, and inconsistency of our government and society before I hit junior high. Where were you? Chasing the ice cream truck?

Look. After you decided to incorrectly dismiss me, your obvious intellectual superior, as a moron, I skimmed over your posts in this thread and easily deduced from not your opinion, but your ability to spell and form your OWN opinions, that your much revered education has done to little or nothing to better your brain. UserNameAlphaNiner and I, however, whose faith in educational sources do not lie in our WONDERFUL SCHOOL SYSTEM (sarcasm for those not able to notice), somehow managed to write posts which weren't the equivalent of a.. well.. a kid who spent special ed doing acid. Catch my drift? Ironic; wouldn't you agree?

The next time you choose to use vulgarity to offensively insult someone, especially in regards to their mental capabilities, make sure you spell correctly.
