Ph, & nutrient uptake availability are big factors. It sounds to me like you are doing a DWC type of grow. Using one control bucket for all your plants with no circulation will cause the affect you have described. Most people who are successful with DWC have one control bucket for each plant. Some have used 2 plants with one bucket but with mixed results. You may want to rethink your setup for your next run.

But in fact, it's not so good because only the water level is the same in the buckets, PH and EC can be very different in each one because of no water circulation. Right !
