so yeah, I'll agree, they don't make much of an artistic statement...
But they smoke soooooo nicely. I used one almost exclusively this summer. Why would you use a different piece when the Roor is at hand? I died a little inside when it returned to LA with its owner...
on another note, I have seen roors that got reworked and had colors added to them aftermarket... about what you'd expect. I guess it depends on what qualities you value most in your pieces...

Kinda like buying a shirt at Abercrombie and Fitch, when you could get the same shirt at the Gap for much cheaper. (The only thing is, it won't say A&F on it) You know what I mean?

I disagree. My experience is with a 21" Dealer's Cup RooR with ice notches, which belongs to a friend of mine. First, RooRs are known for absurd durability. Also, they are perfectly round-- that way, if it breaks, you can return it to RooR and they can fix it on a lathe. RooR is really proud of their quality and service.
Second, while they don't look as "handmade" as other bongs, they have a sleek German aesthetic sense that just screams Weed Connosieur every time you smoke from one. You go to a party and whip out your RooR, and people know you're not fucking around.
Finally, they hit -really- well. The one I smoked out of featured a water chamber and then a foot and a half tube filled with ice cubes. All in all, the smoke was -incredibly- smooth, cold, and very tasty-- not to mention that we all got -very- high on comparatively little weed.
That said, I'm not currently in the market for one. However, I am having a hand-blown bong made through a local head shop that is modeled after a RooR, but orange and swirly.
PS If anyone gets a RooR here, DO NOT forget the ice notches! They add a lot.

I'm not too sure that if you have a roor that means you're a weed conoisseur... I think it just screams that you have $300 lying around to spend on smoking utensils.
But I am still open on this issue. I want more roor info. I'm curious now...

Roor is a yuppie bong. Same as all the other laser-cut glass-on-glass pieces. They are great not because of how they look but how they hit. All the seals stay tight without the need for awkward rubber grommets. To empty the chamber all you do is gently lift the bowl. Perfection every time. They are well worth the money if you are going to invest in a bong. You don't have to buy a Roor to get a good glass-on-glass piece though.
I love my 2-ft glass-on-glass bong. Got it at Infinity's End in Charlotte.

Think about how much weed you smoke in a year. If you're a reasonably heavy toker and smoke an 1/8th of mids or KB a week, you're probably throwing around $40 a week for weed. 40x52, and you find yourself spending $2080 a year on weed.
If you save up for the -most expensive RooR, at $350, you still have $1650 left to spend on weed-- that's only $33 a week-- not that big a difference.
If you don't smoke that much weed, just think of it this way-- save a single dollar every day for a year, and you'll be able to afford the nicest bong on the planet in time for New Year's Eve celebrations.
I've only smoked out of two bongs in my life-- a handblown foot tall glass number that my friend bought, and the 2 ft. RooR Dealer's Cup. Between the two, there was absolutely no question about which one hit better-- the RooR!
And finally, for the cynics here, you can get small RooRs for as little as $70, ranging (as I said earlier) up through $350-- and that's not including the custom options available. You can get an excellent RooR for only $150; the $350 dollar ones are a bit extravagant. But hell, if you can afford it, why not?
