Yes, Casey volunteered to defend his country. When Bush sent him to fight for his own personal agenda, things changed. He was no longer fighting for what he volunteered for. Frankly, I feel the real ignorance here is that you're trying to justify his death. Remember that our soldiers are real people, not fodder to get in the way of the people that piss off the president.

I have no idea where his figures come from, but they agree with the general trend of this type of war, the great power wins every single battle, and loses the war. Can you name me a battle the US lost in Vietnam? The russians in afganistan? Come on, surely we didn't win every single battle and lose the war? Is that possible? 3 million vietnames died in the war, 50,000 americans. The russians did even better, 1.5 million afghans dead, 15,000 russians. Here's the problem, we care about our dead (or at least some of us do) they don't. They will keep dieing until we leave, and so will we.
