Even if that's true, and I kinda dought it, that leaves three. The black muslims are nuts, but they have an even crazier sect called the moors. Apart form islam, their theology claims that black people are not from africa (because it is a continent), but rather from morocco (sp?) This is based on the fact that the moors ruled Spain for 700 years. True enough, but I pointed out to them that spain ruled mexico for 300 years, mexico california for 200, rome the mediteranian world for a 1000, and what the fuck is your theological point? No really good answer. In any case morocco is one tiny little country in north africa, and the people there aren't black, they're arabs. Kinda off topic, but why do black people want to be called "african americans"? White people don't demand to be called "european americans" In any case, africa comes from the name of a man, Scipio Africanus, an roman general who defeated carthage at canne. Perhaps the most important battle in world history, in that it insured that the cultural legacy of the western world was that of rome, rather than carthage, that is to say, of europe, rather than africa. i'm not positive,but i'm pretty sure it was the other way around. Skippio (was that the real spelling? no clue.) was named Scipio Afracanus because he beat Hannibal at Cannee, i remember seeing it on History channel just a couple days ago.
