Hey 3.0/3.5 is a pretty good update to the rules. Modular, not to much broken and in constant need of clarifiying.
I started playing when I was 10 and had a blast for a while with AD&D but got into other things and didn't play for a long time. Had some old gaming buddies around when 3.0 came out and we put in 10 bucks each and bought the 3 core books and the 1st level adventure (Forge of Fury?, we did that whole series) and played.
Next thing it was every week. While not perfect at least with 3.5 they made nice changes to balance it more. Of course now WoTC is moving on with 4.0. Personally I can stick to 3.5ish rules.
Lately I am running Expedition to Castle Ravenloft with Ravenloft rules. Which just means darker, scarier, and most probably unwinable.

Hah yea i play dnd with a few friends of mine, actually as of late we've been playing a Serenity role playing game (based around the firefly series, if anyones familiar with that). Been trying to get a buddy of mine to run a shadow run campaign for a while though.
You can always look back, but you can never change the past.

I used to play, and we had a lot of fun until my players figured that they could be out doing stuff in real life rather than sitting in my basement pretending to do stuff with their imagination. So now they play D&D Online and WOW.
