Best Amsterdam Cafe
i have a guidebook to europe for backpackers. it says:
"Coffeeshops in city centres - plasticky, neon-lit dives, pumpking out mainstream rock, reggae or techno - are worth avoiding: the dope is limited and low-grade, and quite often the deals are rigged. Less touristy districts house more congenial, high quality outlets. When you walk in, ask to see the menu. This will list all the different hashes and grasses on offer, along with exactly how many grammes you get for your money. Take care with 'spacecakes', mainly because you can never be sure what's in them, and don't ever buy from street dealers."
Basically, catch a ride a little bit outside of town and you'll find a nice place to hang out for the night, with better quality stuff for cheaper.
It says a place called Homegrown Fantasy in Amsterdam is owned by the Dutch Passion seed company, and has the widest range of locally grown herb.
Other good places: De Dampkring, The Bulldog, Global Chillage, Kadinsky (supposedly a great place), and Paradox.
Hope this helps.
