so if thats true, that there is almost none left in our bodies a few hours later, then how do we build a tolerance to it? If there isn't any left in us shouldn't we be able to get just as stoned the next day, and the next, and the next...

I guess it goes, but a slight bit stays in us for about 1 week, keeping our tolerance up a bit. The more you smoke, the more Delta-9 is gonna stay in your fat cells, and keeps getting added to rather than being given chance to leave them.

thats because your brain reduces cannabinol receptors upon repeated exposer to thc which makes it so you need more of the drug, this is also why there is a limiti to how high someone can get
On the waydown they saw a lot they don\'t remember
and if you asked them how, they couldn\'t say how they got there
and if you want them now you could just pull on the lever
and say, \"I\'m hung up on gravity.\"
you move your mouth and you start to talk
you close your eyes and then lose the thought
what\'s mine is mine and what\'s yours you probably got
    and we all fall.

well that is partly the reason that you DONT develop a (physical) tolerance

Does that mean that we're slowly building up a permanent tolerance? or does our brain continue to produce more of those receptors?

the number of receptor sites for thc to bond to will change depending on the amount you consume. if you were to quit, your brain will adjust accordingly. so the answer to you question is no i dont think one can build a permanent tolerance.
