It is pointless to try they do not give off enough light.

Well you can grow cannabis with normal light bulbs, but it will just produce weak plants, and small, thin, light buds. So if you are going to make an effort to cultivate, then you want to get the right supplies and materials needed. Why invest the time if the outcome will be less than desirable. Make the most of your efforts!

hmm I have tried to grow with just normal lights before they all ways fall over and die. I guess it would depend on the watts.

the wattage of your light bulbs is not the problem here.
regular bulbs give off the wrong type of light witch is no good for young canny plants.
if desired you can use a desk lamp fluro ONLY to germinate the seeds but this will be slow. the best way to get your cannabis to grow is to get the right equipment...
