Back in 78, I think it was, I got locked up in New Orleans during Mardi Gras....just before the cops went on strike and the National guard moved in. There were two televisions in our cell block...both tuned into Alex Haley's "Roots" every night. The showers were wide open in plain view as you walked along the block. One night, as I was walking with a fellow inmate contemplating a jail break, he stopped suddenly and pointed into the shower and said..."Jeezus...look! that guy is jerking off in there!"
The young man who was self-indulging had a page from a porn magazine stuck to the wall in front of him..an ebony sweetheart...and having heard what my companion said, turned and replied..."Yeah, ahm jerkin' off awright....this is a muthafuckin' jailhouse muthafucka...'course ahm jerkin' off."

Me...I was lucky if I could find part of a week-old newspaper to read...
