MH + HPS question

Hello all I'm new to growing indoors under false lights as I have been used to growing outside. I was working on a small large scale farm if that makes any sense. Unfortunlently this year our suffolk farm was seized by the police and they took everything right at harvest time. luckily I had no investment i was just given a share to work the plant thank hell for ill people beacuse I was visiting a relavtive in hospital so i wasent there when the bacon turned up. Now I'm back in a city looking to grow indoors. I have a cabinet big enough for about 6 plants. I have an Air cooled MH and a cooled HPS both at 400 watt. Ive been vegging my plants for about 3 weeks under the MH and five bog standard 40watt fluros. I was wondering whether or not its worth introducing the hps at peak times during their 18 hours of light
for example on the 6th hour have the HPS turn on and shine until the 12th hour. Or shall i put them both on for the full 18. or do I not bother at all and if i want more light invest in more MH??

equally i would like to know is can the MH bulb be used during flowing?

Would really appricieate some help witht this one.

Sure you can combine lights, you could put them on each side of your plants. Not on top but off to each side. Flowering with just a MH will not give you large heavy buds but you can use HPS and MH together just fine for flowering.
