I agree with your first statement, but would you not agree that the mind does indeed create everything? How we percieve the universe around us is only what our minds interpret. When you touch the sensation of touch is only a signal being sent to your brain. The same goes for when you see, or smell, or taste. Your brain the interprets these how it can.. but that doesn't mean that the way we percieve the universe is the way it really is.

I saw a documentary once that explained that the brain can only process so many bits of visual information at one time. This number is signaficantly smaller than the number of bits of information our eyes can see at one time. So somewhere in the process there is alot of information being lost. So would it not be safe to say that, based on this, our minds create the universe around us, at least in our minds? That we interpret this information how we see fit (or how we are designed to, i'm not sure) but that how we interpret it is not precisely how it is?
