Stephen Hawking's Public Lecture on "Life in the Universe"

Stephen Hawking has one of, if not the, most brilliant minds on the planet. I mean, he can talk about a time period of billions of years and explain the progress of the entire universe over that time in just a paragraph or two. I'm not going to say I agree, or disagree, with everything he says, because he knows much more about these things that we do.. We can have opinions, but as far as knowledge of these subject goes, he beats us all.

Torog, refering to your comment about Stephen Hawking not allowing for the existence of God; I don't think that the currently accepted model of the universe (that is to say what we currently know about the universe) allows of the existence of God either. Logic would say that this means God oesn't exist; you can try and circumvent this with logic of your own, but it would most probably be flawed.
    Howdy GhostToker,

Well..the way I see it,you and Hawking, are making a mistake about God and ignoring a whole field of energy physics..for instance there are disturbances in the em field, when either residual energy is present,or when spiritual energy is active, also, when spiritual entities need to or desire to,interact with us,it requires a gathering of available energy and if that energy is in the form of heat,a temperature drop occurs as it's sapped or drained, from the surrounding area.

For Hawking to diasallow the existence of God,is to disallow the possible existence of entities in a pure energy form..should'nt he keep his mind open to all possibilities ? Hawking leaves no room for God in 'his universe' or the existance of an omni-potent entity..that seems to be somewhat one dimensional - the way I see it.

    Have a good one ....

    Yo yo yo,

Well, to be honest, i'm honoured to be used in the same sentence as Stephen Hawking like that.. Lol

But anyway, I don't know much about how Stephen Hawking works. I don't really know how he and his colleagues come to these conclusions, but I would imagine that there is no room for God in his model of the universe because he has not yet seen any reason to include God or Gods in that model. I'm sure he has based his ideas and theories and thoughts on the evidence that he has found and that has been presented to him, and so far nobody has ever proven the existence of God, so therefore He doesn't exist in the current model of the universe.

I'm sure if somebody were to suddenly provide irrefutable evidence of God, or if God one day popped in to say 'High', then the currently accepted model of the universe would be changed to allow for the presence of God, but as of yet there is no reason for that to be so.

I agree that there is much more to the universe than we can imagine. Even Stephen Hawking doesn't assume to know everything, even about himself or his planet; there are just too many unknowns. But I don't think that we can draw any conclusions based on the unknowns, because we just don't know. I'm starting to sound like Donald Rumsfeld.

This place where nothing exists, I'm not sure. I've long thought it was a black hole, but with these findings of star-creation, around Sagittarius A*, giving me second thoughts.

You should condense your thoughts and explain yourself high.

Just make every sentence count, and no one will care if you're rather high, or even notice.

I haven't been high since the day I set foot on these message boards.

I live on the first floor at sea-level. The highest I've been, since, was Petersburg, VA.

You know, I'm not sure what movie I saw, but it was on his view of the Universe. We rented it at college, in 1994.

You're talking about my method of sleeping while driving long distances.
