Sorry to be picky here mate but there are a great many differences between English and American English in the area of spelling. To me whenever people use a 'z' instead of an 's' in words that end 'ise' they are spelling it incorrectly, to you it would be the standard spelling.

English itself began as a bastardised language and has been constantly evolving over many centuries. New words enter the language, words become unused, and acceptable spelling changes with each new edition of a major dictionary.

In brief, if you can understand what is being conveyed what does it matter whether the spelling is correct in this month's dictionary?
