Do any women like short guys?

My husband is relatively short. He says he's 5'9" but he's more like 5'7", and Im 5'6". I always thought that the man I marry would be very tall. My dad was 6'5" and large build, so it came as surprise to everyone that I fell for someone of smaller stature, since women supposedly like guys that remind them of their fathers.

I think in theory women want a tall, handsome man. The motive for that want I believe is a feeling of protection and safety. However, women don't stick to their "standards" the way men do, women have a lot of flexibility if a man has confidence, a sense of humor, and shows that he has a drive to one day live a comfortable life and beable to support a family. Nothing is more of a turn-off for a woman than a man with no ambition. And you cant feel safe and protected by a big, strong, tall man who doesn't have a job, or lets himself stay stuck in a dead end job.

Its apparently a fact that tall men are more likely to get promotions and make more money, and I think women have a subconscience awareness of that reality, that definitely could also be why tallness is a desirable quality as well.

But women are flexible with whom and what we find physically attractive. Thats what makes us so awesome, lol. I dont know many women who will say "I'll NEVER marry a fat man" or "I'll never marry a short man." I do, however, know many women, including myself, who dont have hesitation saying "I will not be with a man who lacks direction." "I will not be with a man who cannot or will not provide a comfortable life for his family or at the very least contribute to the effort of making the home comfortable, safe, and secure and the best it can be to his ability." What makes me laugh is that many find the latter examples to be the shallow ones. What the fuck ever. You being good-looking and tall benefits me very little if you aren't a contributer to our happiness and well-being. You being a stud fades away over the years. My equating your looks with your value is what's shallow. But sizing you up based on your ability to be productive and driven for a higher quality of life for yourself and/or your family, thats not shallow at all. Its smart, and gives a man value because he deserves value. Not because he happened to have the right DNA. His parents can value him for crap like that, haha.

Thanks for that Ousted, that was really interesting to hear somebody more mature(please don't take that the wrong way )give their opinion. Its kinda tough being a short guy because, as is a well known fact being petite as a woman is an attractive quality whereas for a man it isn't.

If you strive to do well/stick up for yourself when people make cruel comments you are accused of having "short man syndrome". Throughout school I was fair game for people to highlight my diminutive stature, however they wouldn't dream of doing the same to somebody who is overweight. Now not everybody who is overweight can do something to change that ie thyroid problems etc but some can. If you are short there is nothing that you can do to change that, no amount of bitter teenage tears will ever make you taller. The bizarre thing is in my family my sister is almost a polar opposite of me despite both sharing the same parents, she has blondde hair and blue eyes and is 5ft10 whereas I have brown hair and brown eyes and am 5ft 4, go figure!

I suppose taller men get better promotions etc as they are seen as making better leaders and being dynamic and productive. However put me in a room with a group of people I'll have them eating out of the palm of my hand quicker than any 6ft2 giant will, and I'll tell you why, self deprecation and sensitivity. I'm not an arrogant person and I don't take myself too seriously, I am confident but not a prick. I listen to what people have to say and respond rather than waiting for my chance to speak (dunno if that makes sense or not?). I suppose that certainly the self deprecation has been a self defense mechanism for as long as I can remember, as I'd rather get an insult in myself than have somebody else do it for me.

It just seems strange that even in this day and age height is still perceived as being so important, yeah thousands of years ago taller men would make better hunters and could provide more effectively for their family, father stronger children more likely to survive etc but thats not the case now. I earn a good wage and am both intellient and ambitious and in actual fact earn considerably more money than my group of friends out of whom I'm the shortest buy about 5-6inches.

Anyway I'm not really sure where I was gong with this but rant over I guess

Fuck.. i never even realised short people actually really felt discriminated against thats right mad. I never even think of height as being an issue its just that way around here, most people are short in this area.

no... there is no hope for short guys.

my friend was tiny, had really tiny feet. He dated a lot of fat chicks though. Not sure if it helps, but he did get girls.

No, women are attracted to horses so they want a man who will have a cock like a stallion. That's why they're attracted to bigger "darker" men.
